Steve Reich, graduated from Cornell University in 1957, is a contemporary composer who was renowned as “America’s greatest living composer” by The Village VOICE, he was awarded the Pulitzer prize in Music for his composition ‘Double Sextet’ in 2009. Steve Reich’s music has been performed by major orchestras and ensembles around the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas; The Ensemble modern conducted by Bradley Lubman; the Saint Louis Symphony conducted by Leonard Slatkin, etc. This year, in celebration of his 80th birthday, conductor Michael Tilson Thomas hosted special events at the San Francisco Davies Symphony Hall, with special guests Kronos Quartet and Eighth Blackbird.
